  • Consider your wedding date. Many venues offer discounted rates on certain days of the week and times of the year. If this is something you and your fiancé are open to negotiating, ask about it.

 

  • Use what the venue offers. Many traditional venues offer tablecloths, chairs, napkins, etc. at no extra cost. Take into account what freebies come along with a service you're already paying for and build on that. You don't necessarily have to take everything they offer but it's worth a shot, you may find something that compliments your wedding style.

 

  • Prioritize wants vs. must-haves. There are things that are must-haves for some couples that cannot be negotiated, whether it's the food, flowers, music and anything in between. Determine what you must have versus the things you would be willing to pass up on. This helps to focus all of your efforts on the areas that mean the most to you and your significant other. It also makes the whole process seem less daunting when you can cut out the things that aren't important to you. Remember there are no rules when it comes to your wedding ;)
